# Where is Freedom Least By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-05-01 If people break up where they spend their time, the categories are at home, socially with friends, and at work. There are other categories, but this likely captures most of one’s time. If freedom is not experienced equally among these categories, exploring where one is most and least free is potentially useful. The answer to this is idiosyncratic. On average, one is most free at home and least at work. Time spent socializing is likely somewhere between those two. If this is accurate, the concept of freedom at work is important because it is where people perceive the least amount of personal freedom. Whereas the requirements are relaxing due to changing norms and virtual work, rules and expectations still constrain individuals. People must work certain hours, do certain things, do those certain things in established ways, attend meetings, and participate in the meetings as expected. Freedom is limited at work. What is interesting is the ease at which most people accept a form of being at work that they would never accept as a form of government. Work is a dictatorship. Most Americans expect a democracy. Work would benefit from becoming a participatory democracy. Let’s have a work meeting and vote on it. #### Related Items [[Freedom]] [[Work]] [[Friends]] [[Democracy]] [[Vote]]
