# What is a Company By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-03-31 There are marquee companies. Coca-Cola, Hilton, IBM, and P&G might come to mind among others. There is a potential existential difference when one joins a large, long-established company rather than a small, new one. When one joins an established organization, one becomes a part of a tradition. One is expected to contribute to its maintenance and sustainment. One is expected to conform. When one joins a start-up or boutique organization, one is more directly involved in creating what the company will become. Each type offers something. The first offers history and tradition. The second offers the future and creation. Whereas each is potentially beneficial they are essentially and radically different. Understanding these differences can help one determine which type of organization offers best the types of opportunities one wishes to pursue existentially. Answering what a company is might influence whom one becomes. #### Related Items [[Business]] [[Tradition]] [[Future]] [[Creative]] [[Work]] [[Self-Actualization]] [[Questions]]
