# What Do You Think By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-03-03 It is a privilege to work with people you respect. Talking to such individuals can provide insight and rejuvenation. Such moments are rare. Collegial working relationships are possible without respect. This might be the most common of working relationships. When a working relationship is built on respect, there is solidarity. In that unique, shared space, one might ask for one’s thoughts on a topic, issue, or concern. This question is an invitation. Without the solidarity built on respect, responses to that question are typically politically correct, corporate answers. Anybody could give that type of response. One wouldn’t even need to ask the question, because the corporate answer is known to all. It is ubiquitous. A real connection, or solidarity, allows people to disclose what they truly think. Humans long for this type of authentic engagement. Creative work thrives when it is present. It can’t be forced or faked. Organizations could be transformed if they became places in which mutual respect is the basis for collective action.
