# Types of Managers - The Coach By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-01-12 The coach manager is focused on the development of the workforce. Nothing, even the organization, is more important than that. The coach wants each member of the workforce to develop a winning mindset. Improvement is key. There is no end to the process. One can always improve, and one “should” always be working on that improvement. At least from the coach’s perspective. This hyper-focus on workforce development can place the coach-manager at odds with the organization. Coach-managers tend to be invested in the organization, but the people ultimately come first. This focus on persistent development can become tiresome for members of the workforce. Discipline is an important concept for coach-managers. When members of the workforce are no longer interested in this disciplined development, the coach will focus attention on those willing to stick with it. Coach-managers are high-energy, positive, and driven. They are serious about improvement. They expect the workforce to be as well. The coach-manager is disappointed when workers do not want to play this game. #### Related Items [[Management]] [[Business]] [[Types of Managers]]
