Appearing to be deeply committed to the organization, the actor-manager never says a negative word about the organization. Likewise, the actor-manager engages with employees and says all the right things about growth opportunities and being willing to invest in the workforce. On the surface, the actor-manager is among the best in the organization. Just under the surface, the actor-manager is revealed as simply pretending to be engaged. The actor-manager doesn’t care about the organization or its workforce. In reality, the actor-manager only cares about advancement and not being discovered. Fortunately for the actor-manager, organizations and employees seldom get below the surface of things. So, in some respects that actor-manager is safe.
