# Transformative Listening

The need to be a listening society has never been greater. With the erosion of values, the shift in work and geopolitics, and the overproduction of elites, one needs to spend more time listening and reflecting as what one grew up with is no longer completely relevant. The rules have changed, and getting angry about them is the least effective way to solve any problem. An angry person does not think and often lives to regret their actions. Reality TV provides the perfect example of what not to do. If one watches an argument between two individuals on Reality TV, one will see that they repeat the same things endlessly. There is no dialogue or discussion. There is no consideration, just endless insults and repetitive actions. While it is a spectacle, these beefs are only squashed once both parties calm down, listen, and consider. As a society, we've done little to advocate for listening. Those who feel wronged get angry and yell illogically. Those who feel they know better, aka the elites, spend much of their time condemning and chastising others. Neither bothers listening. The conservatives get angry. The liberals get vindictive and judgmental. This is a significant problem, but also an opportunity for something new. We must evolve beyond anger and righteousness to get out of this mess. Listen to both and reflect. Consider what the synthesis looks like. There are good and bad things about both sides. The transformative opportunity is coming for those who listen and ask questions.
