# There is Always Something to Celebrate By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-07-01 Today is 1 July. Today is Canada Day. This day celebrates the anniversary of the Canadian Confederation, which occurred on 1 July 1867. Whereas I am not Canadian, I do love Tim Hortons, and I like to celebrate. The focus isn’t on whether one has a coherent reason to celebrate Canada Day. Instead, the focus is on understanding that there is always something to celebrate, even simply to be happy for somebody else. We in the United States can celebrate in solidarity with our Canadian neighbors to the north. We can be happy for their happiness. Given its proximity to our 4th of July, we could start “Liberation Week” and keep the party going four days straight. Life can be banal, and it can be filled with hardship. Celebrations help place the focus on the fun rather than the drudgery. Happiness and joy are beautiful to see. They are contagious. If things aren’t going how one would like, look around. Something is going right for someone. Celebrate that. There is very little difference between the joy one feels for oneself and the joy one feels for others. There is always something to celebrate. Doing so makes life a little lighter. Happy Canada Day! #### Related Items [[American]] [[Canadian]] [[Independence]] [[Celebration]] [[Happiness]] [[Solidarity]] [[Drudgery]]
