As with all things, analytics has intended and unintended consequences. Typical intended consequences include better outcomes, deeper understanding and insights, the discovery of blind spots, and synthesizing new conclusions. But, what are the unintended consequences? As with drugs, the list of potential side effects from analytics is long, and the odds of any of them happening varies greatly. Everyone will experience these side effects at different rates and frequencies, so always check with your doctor to see if analytics is right for you.
Common side effects of analytics include but are not limited to headaches, fatigue, existential dread, loneliness, frustration, angst, clarity, confusion, comradery, enlightenment, anger, feelings of transcendence, joy, satisfaction, fear, depression, "foot-in-mouth" disease, [[nihilism]], transhumanism tendencies, delusions, and overthinking it.
If you experience any of these side effects, congratulations on experiencing the absurdity and wonder of the human condition. You'll likely be a better analyst as a result.
