# The Real-Imaginary Future By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2024-04-15 Imagination is a powerful force. It allows us to explore possibilities and experience the fantastic. For some, the power of imagination propels them to build something in reality. For others, it is an escape from the suffering of the here and now. Many choose to put their imagination to use by attempting to predict what the future holds or to solve a problem. Regardless of how one uses their imagination, it is a fundamental nature of humanity. But what if awareness of the real and imaginary is only the beginning of our journey? What other dimensions exist that we have yet to discover? It's hard to think about because we focus only on this or that categories. What is the dimension of this and that? In other words, what happens if one builds a bridge to something simultaneously imaginary and real? Some may say this is virtual reality, but is this imaginary? It is still programmed to be real and does not respond to the infinite possibilities of one's thoughts. This is the challenge and likely limit of modern computers. They are incapable of the infinite and immediate generation of ideas, models, and situations created by the human mind in the world of imagination. Computer simulations mimic the concept of imagination but are far from it. Eventually, we'll see human consciousness and our brain as something entirely outside the realm of the digital computational paradigm. Once this is done, interfaces will be developed to make the bridges between imagination and reality more direct. This may be just experiencing another's imagination such that it becomes a genuinely real and shared experience. This is not simple telepathy but a way of interacting and engaging with the imagination of others in such a way that it feels as real as anything else we ever experience. From this point onward, a different paradigm of human progress will emerge as the masks are suddenly pulled off, and we'll see authenticity. It will not be an option to hide behind the ways of old. Generational wars will be fought oddly, representing a loss of old ideas of self and values, but the ending will be an elevation to the real-imaginary. #### Related Items [[Imagination]] [[Reality]] [[Paradigms]] [[Computation]] [[Thinking]] [[Simulation Modeling]]
