# The Main Event By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-11-11 Humans seem to like to be entertained. What is odd and fascinating is how humans have entertainment within and around other forms of entertainment. Sporting events, which are a form of entertainment, sometimes include halftime shows, which is another form of entertainment. Major events (boxing matches, musical performances) often have other matches or performances before “the main event.” Musical festivals and circuses are often multiple-day events that contain multiple stages or rings for simultaneous performances. It’s strange the degree to which when humans seek entertainment, they want various forms or events. Sometimes, “the main event” doesn’t deliver or is eclipsed by the opening act. Jimi Hendrix opened for the Monkees. Life and work are more like this odd pairing. Young, ambitious workers often outperform older workers. Life and work are the main events. There is no opening act; there are no side performances. They are one long, simultaneous, chaotic, and beautiful performance. The acts, scenes, and form are disjointed and hardly make any sense or coherence. Get ready; the main event has already started. #### Related Items [[Entertainment]] [[Sports]] [[Performance]] [[Life]] [[Work]]
