# The Left-Right Dilemma and Our Future

When one looks at the Left and the Right, one will often see that the Left is primarily united around post-modern ideologies with an undercurrent of ironic and often hypocritical capitalism. But, the paradox is hardly a concern. It is mainly an inconvenience because some economic work systems are necessary, but post-modern ideology offers no insights. It is merely against modernity as it relates to power and those subjugated by it. Capitalism is dominant, and someone needs to organize the Left, so it might as well be the ones on top with the most power who are sympathetic to the cause. In this way, the dominant ideology of the Left is not coherent or sustainable. It will increasingly become divided as more coherent ideologies emerge that attempt to fix the issues. The elite will advocate for positions that keep them on top via the status quo. However, it will eventually fall apart as unsustainably incoherent and disconnected from life's economic and existential realities. Other factions on the Left will push more radical ideologies that will further splinter them from the group but will look increasingly beneficial to those in the middle who are largely unaware and trying to make sense of what to do based on what everyone else around them is doing. Thus, one sees the primary critique of the post-modern ideology: it is impossible to organize when one is against organization. The Right has a different set of problems that are oddly related. The Right largely has no unified ideology at all. Many factions fight amongst themselves and are only loosely united as the Right when fighting against the Left. Again, they are not for anything other than opposing the policies of the Left. Certainly, each Right faction is for their sliver of policies they believe are threatened by the Left, but these hardly represent a coherent ideology. For example, there are factions of the Right that only care about gun ownership but ask them about other policies, and they are all over the map. As Americans, we are stuck. The Left rejects the system that created it, and it needs to survive, while the Right stands for very little other than opposing the Left. This is a dangerous moment in history as all one needs is a competent and charismatic leader to emerge to take control of the narratives and unite one side against the other. It's been just enough time since the emergence of the likes of Stalin and Hitler. We are standing at the same point in history. Either side could fall victim to things we think would never occur now, but that's likely what all the others throughout history also thought. A third alternative exists even though it rarely happens: synthesizing views for the greater good. This is the metamodern perspective. It's not about Left or Right ideologies or lack thereof. It's about building practical bridges of existence and thriving that are closer to the roots of our tribal nature. Sacrifices will need to be made for the benefit of others, and one will need to adopt a small worldview on a global scale. It's possible but doubtful in this iteration of the cycle as individuals who think this way are still too few. After the violence, many more will emerge. So, here is to hope that those in 2090 get it right.
