# The Future of the Analytics Professional By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2023-05-03 In the long run, people will stop caring about analytics. It will be expected and just the way things are. Data will be readily available, insights proactively delivered to inboxes, and decisions will be analytically informed. Analytics will no longer be the squeaky wheel managers harp on to deliver insightful organizational value. When analytics runs smoothly and successfully, no one will notice. Occasionally something will break or a particularly challenging problem will arise. Instead of being a major event, it will be handled smoothly with a few emails and meetings with the analytics professionals behind the scenes. How will the current generation of analytics professionals handle this new reality? Will they rejoice in the victory? Will their egos take a hit? Will they attempt to cling to technical details to re-elevate their power within the organization? My bet is on the last two. Most analysts do not think about their purpose and where progress is taking them. Unanticipated existential dread will emerge. The champions of change and thinking will become dogmatic and rigid. Our success will be our failure unless we forecast a different future. #### Related Items [[Analytics]] [[Future]] [[Profession]] [[Work]] [[Thinking]] [[Change]] [[Progress]]
