# The Future is Largely Predictable By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2023-05-22 For most things, it's easy to predict the future. Tomorrow is almost always like yesterday. The sun rises and falls predictably. People go to work and children grow up. We largely miss how regular the future is. If it weren't this way, our brains wouldn't exist as they do. In all likelihood, they wouldn't exist at all. We expend massive amounts of time and energy on the small part of the future that is unknown and hard to predict. As a species, we are obsessed with this sliver of unknowns. It propels us forward and makes us who we are. We could be content, but that is boring. To deny that we are driven this way is to openly embrace ignorance. However, as with all things, obsession with these unknowns is also unhealthy. Sometimes we need to appreciate what we don't know and everything that we take for granted. #### Related Items [[Future]] [[The Human Condition]] [[Predictive Analytics]] [[Thinking]] [[Present]] [[Progress]]
