# The Business Dinner By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-03-07 One of the reasons the business dinner is so important is that it provides an opportunity to relate as humans rather than positions. Of course, one is never able to fully separate the person from the position, but at the business dinner the significance or roles is slightly diminished, and the prominence of humanity increased. There might be some discussion of the business topic of the day, but often the conversation moves around events in society, and one’s interests. During these conversations, one establishes interest, motivation, and thinking. There can be insight developed through a business dinner. For junior members of the organization, this can be an especially stressful part of the effort. It is nice when senior members remember this and help new members integrate into the discussion. We all must eat. When we eat together it is an opportunity to form a more human connection.
