# The Boring Valley By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2024-03-30 I grow tired of narrow explanations or even ones that consider several dynamics. Rarely will one find coherent answers in the valley. Instead, one's views will be restricted by the surrounding mountains, and one will only find things that happen to fall into the valley. That is not to say that the valley will not be fertile - it will be. But, the valley is merely a local optimum point. I seek a global optimum point. I know there may be no such thing, but one will never find it if one never looks for it. So, I grow tired of those who settle in one valley and forget that the rest of the world is out there. One day, I may settle down, but I suspect I will regularly climb a mountain to inspect my surroundings and see if there are new areas to explore via short expeditions. Here, age begins to limit what is possible. Alas, most people don't even bother to do this, and their worldview lives in the shadow of the mountains they've built. How do you know if you live in the shadow? You haven't consumed something not grown in the valley in the last three months. This describes at least 90% of humanity. Additionally, you haven't authentically considered whether another valley might be a better place to live in the last year. This describes at least 98% of humanity. #### Related Items [[Thinking]] [[Perspective]] [[Paradigms]] [[Self-Actualization]] [[Explanations]] [[World Views]]
