# Strategic Execution By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-08-20 There isn’t enough time to do everything, let alone to do everything well. Workers benefit from the strategic execution of work. Selecting the most beneficial things to accomplish and executing those tasks can be essential for career success. Of course, as a new employee, one might have challenges identifying which tasks are crucial and which are incidental. With time such determinations will become almost instinctive. Strategic execution allows one to excel in the areas which are valued most by the organization. Part of strategic execution is the acceptance that some tasks will not be done as well as they could be. Some tasks are executed to move them forward. Adopting this approach can be especially challenging for “type A” individuals who have advanced through school doing everything exceptionally well. It can be difficult to allow oneself to perform at a lower level. Work and life are filled with tradeoffs. If one spends more time on task A, one will have less time to spend on task B. People who try to do it all often get burned out. Again, selectivity is the key. Determine what needs to be done and execute those things quickly. Determine what needs to be done well and work diligently on those few things. Strategic execution of work reflects prioritization. The ability to do this effectively and unapologetically conveys to the organizations leadership that you can take on increasing responsibilities. The irony is that the strategic execution of work allows one to be less busy, become more effective, and advance organizationally. Thinking analytically is an essential component of strategic execution. #### Related Items [[Work]] [[Strategy]] [[Choice]] [[Career]] [[Success]]
