# Starting Something New By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-09-20 All the analysis in the world can only inform a probabilistic understanding. Something is more or less likely to be successful. Will it be successful? Only time will tell. One will need to try and see. Starting something new is exciting as it holds potential for improvement. It is also daunting as one could fail. Management tends to want certainty. This is a point of tension between analysts and management. Analysts can give increasingly precise, rigorous, and refined estimates. At the end of the day, these are only estimates. Will the actual outcome fall within the expected 95%? Will it fall in the atypical 5%? It may be so extreme that the actual result will be entirely outside the dataset of the analyst. One won’t know until after the fact. The world of analysts is esoteric unless it is implemented. Go out there and implement something and see how it goes. #### Related Items [[Analytics]] [[Probability]] [[Organization]] [[Work]] [[Success]]
