# So Now What

A great deal of attention is given to strategy development, planning, and implementation. These things are central to organizational literature and are a primary focus for consultants. After these things are established, it is useful to ask, so now what. Answering this question compellingly is perhaps as important as the early stages of planning and implementation. If this effort is going to be something more than merely symbolic, it must be institutionalized. Those working within the organization must do something beyond starting an initiative. More challenging, they must change what they do. This is especially challenging given how ingrained routinized behavior is in business operations. As we reach the end of any effort of focus (e.g., business project, college semester, political campaign) it is important to relish in the accomplishment. It is equally important to understand what comes next. This next step makes all the difference.
