# Seemingly Unlikely

Nobody knows the future. Not managers. Not analysts. Nobody. Things are more or less likely, but probabilities, while useful, are not the same as knowing. Sometimes, when information is shared, what is being discussed is seemingly unlikely. It is hard not to dismiss the discussion as absurd. When something is improbable, it is easy to think one knows that it won’t happen. Maybe the improbable event is how a company will improve its performance. Maybe it is a desired career progression of a coworker. Whatever the specifics, seemingly unlikely scenarios tend to be ignored if not mocked. Unlikely events happen all the time. It might be more advantageous to adopt more humility when assessing the future. There is little benefit from dismissing the chance for something spectacular. Greatness is seldom achieved by those who limit their dreams to what is most probable. Accomplishments often accrue to those who don’t give up in adversity. The seemingly unlikely can and does happen every day.
