Do you read the text next to a painting at an art museum? Is reading the text necessary to appreciate the printing? Do the captions validate your opinions? What makes art worth hanging on the wall?
Do you read the article or just the bulleted summary? Does the full article exist if no one reads it? Why do summaries exist? What can't be said in bullet points?
Do you look at each data point or just summary statistics like the average, median, and mode? What information is lost by not understanding each data point? How much of the system are you ignoring?
Why are bullet point presentations so common in business decision-making? Is there ever a complete organizational narrative to review? If only truncated summaries exist, can there ever be understanding and better decisions?
