# Prepare, Perform, Repeat By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-03-26 Much of life, whether it is in school or employment, is going through a cycle of preparation and performance. One could think of this in the common four-square matrix, with low/high preparation and low/high performance. When one has enough information and time it is frequently the case that one matches low preparation with low-performance tasks and high preparation with high-performance tasks. Workers who give high preparation to low-performance tasks are frequently viewed as inefficient by upper management as they tend to invest too much time on things of little consequence. Of the four positions available, it is the low preparation-high performance position that is often the most influential in organizational success. This is the area that best reflects how an individual performs in crisis. Being nimble and effective is often valued organizationally because business is dynamic. As we go through the cycle of preparation and performance there is a benefit from reflecting on what the minimum preparation required for excellent performance is. Knowing what is essential allows one to streamline the process and respond appropriately to the context. If we are going to repeat the preparation-performance cycle indefinitely through life, we might as well learn from it. #### Related Items [[Performance]] [[Preparing]] [[Organizational Analytics]] [[Work]] [[Time]] [[Cycles]]
