# Potential Solidarity By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-09-12 There are moments of great potential. People frequently experience these at the start of something new. In the beginning, there was potential. And it was good. When one is engaged in a new group activity, much of the potential relates to solidarity. There might be a hope that, at long last, these are my people. Will this solidarity be fulfilled? There are potentially many things working against it: 1. People tend to be guarded. Solidarity requires openness. 2. The group is dynamic. People come and go. It is hard to build solidarity in a highly transitory environment. 3. One’s interest wanes. What started as exciting and new can become tiresome and habitual.
