# Pick Your Slogan

In the age of choice, it is essential to pick your slogan (at least for the moment). The first decision to be made is to determine if one will be for or against something. As one example, one could be against war or for peace. This is no trivial distinction, as what one is for is likely more selective than what one is against. Once determined, the next step is to figure out a short, witty slogan under which you and like-minded individuals can mobilize. This step can be challenging. One benefits from the slogan being catchy and memorable without it being easy to dismiss. Once the slogan is selected, it is possible to make buttons, silkscreen shirts, and totes to get one’s slogan out. This process is well-established in political protest movements. It is almost absent within corporations. What would make the application of this approach interesting in organizational contexts is that businesses often produce and promote their slogans. Perhaps individuals would select slogans that are, in some ways, critiquing the organizational slogan. Perhaps individuals would choose slogans that express something closer to their thoughts and desires. As for me, I am adopting “Down with Slogans” as mine. Enjoy the resistance!
