# Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-12-25 It might seem naïve and out-of-step with current reality to wish for peace on earth and goodwill to all. We are a divided country in a fractured world. There is war, famine, and ecological disasters around the globe. There is animosity, fear, and distrust within our communities and nations. Avarice abounds. The call for peace and goodwill is so desperately needed because the situation is so far from ideal. For many, this is a day of reflection and joy shared with family and friends. For others, it is one of the loneliest days of the year. Sadly, for some, it will be just another day that they hope to survive. It can be challenging to keep love in one’s heart for those with whom one disagrees. It is easy to become jaded and bitter. There is much about which we do not all agree. We don’t have to agree to live together. Within most of us is a spark to care for all those around us and those less fortunate. Today, that spark burns a little brighter. If today is filled with love, happiness, and generosity, let us learn from this that these can be shared with all. Not just with those with whom we agree but with our perceived enemies. Dignity and respect are the universal birthright shared by all humanity.
