# Organizational Cores - Synthesis A

Oh, to be lucky enough to find a pot of gold or fulfillment at work. Finding such things is rare and elusive. There is wisdom in the notion that one should seek fulfillment where it is to be found, not where it is hidden away. A key determination regarding fulfillment is to assess the degree to which it is an active or passive experience. Can fulfillment be made, or is it only discovered? To the degree to which it is a passive occurrence that happens sporadically, and only to a select few, one should hold out little hope of finding it at work. If, however, fulfillment can be cultivated, then we should do more to learn how to go about making it more plentiful, if not common. The notion of forming an organizational core at work, as a means of enhancing fulfillment, assumes that it can be actively cultivated rather than passively experienced. This view may be in error. Likely, fulfillment (personal or professional) is a complex mix of internal and external factors, some amenable to influence, others random and uncontrollable. Maybe there is a way of being in the world that is largely one of fulfillment, and it transcends the personal and professional. Such a form of fulfillment would likely need to come from limiting expectations and finding joy in what is, rather than attempting to influence events. Fulfillment does not require the absence of hardship, only the absence of drudgery, where drudgery is meaningless hardship. It would be inconsistent with human experience to expect everybody to get along. However, it is possible that everybody can click with somebody. Finding a niche, forming solidarity, and working on something valuable holds potential for generating fulfillment. This can potentially be done at work, but it likely won’t happen without effort.
