# Organizational Cores - Response By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2025-09-30 The idea of an Organizational Core, where individual fulfillment occurs within a bureaucracy, is one way to seek fulfillment, but it is hardly the only way. In fact, some may argue that finding the Organizational Core is akin to searching for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. One may constantly hear about it and perhaps even see it, but for most, getting there is likely always out of reach. This is largely the function of the bureaucracy itself. By its nature and design, it does not promote solidarity of any kind beyond doing one's mechanical duty to the firm. Having one part more important than the other, while absolutely true, is not something that will ever be held up as an example, so that as many people as possible have the chance to enter the glorious and rewarding Organizational Core. If one finds themselves in such a situation where they receive fulfillment by existing within the Organization Core, one should rejoice at their luck and likely hard work paying off. Alas, odds are slim that this will ever happen to you, given the modern stranglehold on organizational design and systems. Thus, one shouldn't hold their breath that they will ever find the Organization Core, let alone become a part of it. One should seek fulfillment beyond any one dimension of their life. Solidarity can and does exist beyond any Organizational Core, job, hobby, group, or any other situation one finds themselves in. Seek it where it wants to be found, not where it is hidden away. Within the bureaucracy, the Organizational Core is not the only place where fulfillment might be living. What about helping your cubicle neighbor? What about in the act of defiance to support another colleague? This is not simply choosing the easy way out, but taking advantage of the opportunities standing right in front of you. Why not make your own Organizational Core? Seek and ye shall find. #### Related Items [[Organization]] [[Bureaucracy]] [[Fulfillment]] [[Wu-Wei]] [[Work]]
