# Illusive Meaning and Simple Enjoyment By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-03-21 I recently had a dream that strikes at the difference between establishing illusive meaning and simple enjoyment. The dream was largely surreal. I was at the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in Indianapolis, Indiana. But instead of its real location, it was more like a Panamanian rainforest café than something in downtown Indianapolis. The kicker was that Kurt Vonnegut was there, and he and I were enjoying coffee together and chatting. As I went to get another cup of coffee, it turned out that Indiana had its own currency. I could pay in US dollars but had to take my change in Indiana currency. When I returned, I had a bulging pocket full of this new Indiana currency. The situation delighted Kurt Vonnegut and he laughed at the absurdity of my bulging pocket filled with colorful Indiana dollars poking out the top. We sat and laughed and then I woke up. At this point, I could attempt to establish the meaning of all the various aspects of the dream, or I could simply enjoy the surreal experience. I have a great deal of respect for the work of Kurt Vonnegut. The dream was highly surreal and potentially meaningful. My focus is simply on the enjoyment that for a moment I was able to make somebody who has made me laugh in the face of darkness so many times, laugh. If only in my dreams. #### Related Items [[Humor]] [[Meaning]] [[Enjoyment]]
