# From the Human Manual: Take Regular Breaks By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2023-04-22 One piece of ancient wisdom is the value of taking breaks. It's embedded everywhere we look. It's a part of religious and labor laws as well as highlighted in endless self-help books. The fundamental idea is that our body and mind need time to recover. Muscles grow stronger when given time to heal from exercise and our minds grow sharper when we have time to process and evaluate our situation during times of relaxation. It would seem that physical, biological, and chemical systems all need some "downtime" here and there. Interestingly, modern businesses rarely think in these terms. Most of the time, we are robots programmed to work endlessly. We all need a break. It's part of our humanity. [[Organizational Stillness]] is key. Taking a break is an operational necessity. If you think otherwise, give me break. #### Related Items [[Breaks]] [[The Human Condition]] [[Work]] [[Business]]
