# Freedom and the Death of Management

Are you free at work? I mean really free. Not just free to quit or be fired, but free to openly express disagreement, set your work hours and activities, and self-organize with others as needed for the company? The answer is almost certainly no. You are not truly free. You can choose to leave if you have the luxury of financial stability and no family to support, but if you do not, you aren't even free to quit a job that is slowly killing you. Keep your mouth shut and smile. People might believe that allowing this "extreme" level of work freedom is crazy, unrealistic, or the downfall of society. But consider the following: Can the peasants be trusted to own property, vote for competent leaders, and choose their belief systems? Certainly not. They are not educated, they do not understand the ways of the world, and they certainly can't run things efficiently. Best we put a Dictator in charge to protect them and tell them what is best. Perhaps some of you see the issue here. It wasn't that long ago that the freedoms we enjoy today seemed crazy, unrealistic, and the downfall of society. These are the same reasons why people are against true freedom at work. Yet, freedom reigns, and by nearly all measures, humanity is better off. It won't be easy to figure out how to allow true freedom at work while operating in sustainable solidarity, but eventually, there will be no choice - freedom at work will be an absolute necessity and the future of work. As our systems get increasingly more complex, centralized control will evaporate and management will fade away. The only path will be a truly free, self-organizing workforce steering towards a common goal. This is the evolutionary development of capitalism, free markets, and society, and this is the death of management as we know it.
