# Following One's Interest By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-02-21 One can’t always do whatever one wants at work. Some projects, no matter how uninteresting, likely need to be done by somebody. That somebody might be me; it might be you. Depending on the luck of the draw and how busy we were when the assignment was being handed out, we might have to focus on something less interesting than we would like. But it should also be possible to follow one’s interest at work. One shouldn’t only be able to do what one is interested in at work. The most beneficial is a balance between the assigned mandatory drudgery and free exploration. That way, required things are accomplished, and new opportunities are developed. This approach has the added benefit of relativity. The fact that there is a degree of mandatory drudgery makes the free exploration more wonderful in comparison. Those times will be enriching and engaging, unlike other times within the organization. Discovery and development await. #### Related Items [[Interests]] [[Work]] [[Priorities]] [[Balanced]] [[Project Management]]
