# Fixing Other People's Problems By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-09-18 Among the injustices of existence is the intergenerational transfer of problems. Significant problems that previous generations have created are left to later generations to solve. Climate change is probably the most immediate example of an intergenerational transfer of problems. A related pair of intergenerational transfer of problems is our broken society and political system. Our society is broken; our politics are broken. Those who broke it are unable or unwilling to fix it. That means if the issues are going to be fixed, they will need to be addressed by the younger generations. This isn’t fair. Fixing other people’s problems is a drag. The social-political problems we face can be fixed. The solutions aren’t too complex; they require addressing entrenched special interests, arrogance, ignorance, and fear. This can be done. Almost all agree that there is a problem. Unfortunately, most externalize it. We are the problem. We have dithered long enough. For those who care, listen to the younger generation. Try to understand their thoughts and aspirations. Since we have been unable and unwilling to make the world what we want, maybe we can help them make it what they want. It can’t be any worse. The solution might be as simple as taking the focus off ourselves and helping others. #### Related Items [[Problem Solving]] [[Society]] [[Age]] [[Politics]] [[Focus]] [[Solidarity]] [[Failure]]
