When it comes to time, listening to what people say is interesting. Some will say that they need to find time to do something. Others will say that they need to make time to do something. Still, others will say they need to take time to do something. These are not three variations on a theme. It reflects one’s nature to time. Each manifestation only partially captures the human experience of time. Does one find, make, or take time? What does the selection reveal? Of the three, perhaps taking time most accurately reflects the underlying nature of time. Time can’t be made or found. It can’t be extended. It can only be consumed. When it is consumed in one area, it will never come back. There are no re-dos. One takes time and consumes it. If time is viewed as a resource, one invests time in certain areas of one’s life and ignores others. One can’t do it all. Or, at a minimum, one can’t do it all well. Time is perhaps the most precious resource. Take time to enjoy it.
