# Discussion Point By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2022-10-15 How does one make constructive use of discussions? In organizations, discussions occur frequently. Often these are acts of connection. Not much organizational importance is discussed, but key [[relationships]] are developed and maintained through these conversations. Sometimes discussions are focused on tactical work execution. Rarely discussions will transform one’s thinking. Each type of discussion offers something of value. Relationships matter. Work execution matters. Insights matter. Discussions are organizationally important, at least potentially. It would seem imprudent to leave this important organizational function to chance, or simply assume that people will do it well. From building relationships to transforming our collective thinking, authenticity contributes to the accuracy of understanding situations, opportunities, and limits.
