# Direct and to the Point By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2024-08-04 There is a common adage in business: time is money. Executives tend to like information to be brief. There is a reason why the one-page synopsis is known as “the executive summary.” Being direct and to the point is often challenging for analysts. Building context and explaining the various rationales behind the selections made take time. There is little patience for this. However, if it is not provided, executives often complain that the analysis is not thorough enough. This is a classic Catch-22 situation. The most effective approach is to do both. Have a report that is extensive and a pithy summary. Hitting the right balance is part of the art of analysis. #### Related Items [[Reporting]] [[Executives]] [[Analytics]] [[Business]] [[Summarize]] [[Details]]
