# Comfort and Growth By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2024-03-25 While it is sometimes essential to be uncomfortable to break free of the status quo, being comfortable may be the most crucial ingredient in creating conditions for growth and self-development. If one is always uncomfortable, one will focus on the discomfort, not the silence and one's more significant place in the world. For example, if one hurts while sitting on a hard chair, ignoring the pain and working on anything significant will take extraordinary focus. Only once one is comfortable can one's mind be free to explore and create meaning. Perhaps this is the greatest barrier to broader enlightenment and human progress: we've created conditions and beliefs where comfort is always just out of reach. #### Related Items [[Comfort]] [[Growth]] [[Economics]] [[Work]] [[Thinking]] [[Value]] [[Society]]
