# Clarity is the Key

Organizationally, analysis is used to inform decisions. The irony is that the analysis tends to drive clarity as to what specific decision needs to be made. People tend to have only vague ideas of what they are doing. They muddle through more or less effectively. Clarity is the key to success. Knowing what one needs to do is an essential component of doing it. Without clarity, success is a random variable. We would all benefit from greater clarity. Precision in our thinking allows us to communicate more effectively. It provides a foundation for targeted action. It can even inspire us to work harder. Clarity is the key. Whatever action is going on in an organization, be it a meeting or the execution of a project, clarity drives efficiency. So much time is wasted trying to figure out what is being asked. This is unnecessarily wasteful. Determining if a given action adds to organizational clarity is a productive place to start; if it doesn’t, determine if the action is necessary. If it isn’t, stop doing it. Focusing on clarity will help one better understand what is going on, where one fits in, and what one can do to contribute meaningfully to organizational success.
