# But I'm not Good with Numbers By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2023-05-16 I met someone the other day who said their area of specialty was summarizing complex ideas for others to consume and utilize. I said, "So you clearly are a great analyst." Their reply was no because they are not good with numbers and mathematics. This is a disastrous belief that analysts propagate. The point of analysis is not the numbers or the math - it's thinking, understanding, and effectively sharing. The more analytics programs only include technical courses and curriculum, the more we subvert the success of the field and that which we aspire to achieve. It's time to put a stop to it. The next time someone solves a complex problem, effectively explores a situation, or provides a well-thought-out solution, compliment their work as the great piece of analysis that it is. They will thank you but express that they are not an analyst. This is your opportunity to change the tide and reframe analysis to reach its full potential. Hiding behind walls of numbers and data will only work for so long. Eventually, you'll become just a number that is easily subtracted. #### Related Items [[Analytics]] [[Thinking]] [[Business]] [[Education]] [[Number Crunching]] [[Data]]
