# Beyond the Masks By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2024-04-29 What happens when an old mask is no longer valid? Will one refuse to remove it and pretend that nothing has changed? Will one quickly switch it out for a similar one as soon as possible? Or will one remove it to reveal one's self? Many will fall into the first two categories. Few will reside within the land authenticity. It can be scary because there is no safety net as one scales the mountain. But, inevitably, even an attempt at climbing it provides enough value and perspective to make one question all of those still wearing their masks. One will feel sad for some of these individuals, and others will make one angry. The difference resides within one's perception of potential and suffering. Ultimately, one lands where the desire for authentic solidarity propels one to bid farewell to those who refuse to venture outside the city walls. Those who stay will till the same soil repeatedly.
