# Beware of Celebrations By:: [[Ross Jackson]] 2023-12-06 Office accomplishments are deserving of celebration. After long, hard work, it is important to let go and enjoy the moment when things have finally come together and success is at hand. But something fundamental changes in celebration. It is imperceptible at the moment, but it is there, nonetheless. In some ways, it is easier to “make it” than sustain it. Often, the celebration is the zenith. Afterwards, one faces a long decline. The magic is gone. At first, people think that they are just tired. That the road to success was long. The party exhausting. It will just take them a day to bounce back. Or, maybe after the weekend, they will return to the normal routine. Maybe they will. Often, they don’t. Accomplishments are Janus-like. They look back to all the work leading up to it while looking forward to what is to come. Decline is inevitable. One can perpetually fail and never succeed. But, to succeed is to fail eventually. Failure is inevitable. This seems bleak. It doesn’t have to be or isn’t meant to be. It is simply pointing out that meaningful accomplishments are few and fleeting. Beware of celebrations as they are omens of a fall. Enjoy them, nevertheless. #### Related Items [[Celebration]] [[Progress]] [[Success]] [[Failure]] [[Work]]
