Sometimes, one is at a loss as to what to do. There is tremendous pressure to know what to do and to always have a plan. This situation is most complex when one has options. Selecting what to do is relatively straightforward if one hasn’t many options. Choosing what to do is more complex if one could do almost anything. Further complicating the issue is when one has enough experience to know that whatever is selected will be a mixed bag. The world is filled with persistent problems. Poverty, war, and injustice persist despite efforts to address them. Should one spend any time working on these issues if all of history suggests that is folly? Determining what to do is important. Making that determination today probably isn’t all that important. Keeping decisions in the back of one’s mind is often a good approach when one is at a loss. Taking a vacation, walking, or having a cup of coffee might be all one needs to see things more clearly and know what to do. There is little to be gained from rushing or forcing a decision. It is okay to be at a loss. Embracing it as a natural part of life can unlock its dramatic potential.
