# A Type 2 Writer By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2023-04-09 There are at least two types of writing. The first is the kind of writing that mimics or summarizes something already created. Think high school essays, legal contracts, and whatever ChatGPT gives you. The second type of writing is creative thinking. It's putting together ideas in new ways and forms. It's about the connections and the story. Much of this type of writing will go nowhere and only mean something to the creator. That's ok, and it is the nature of creativity and thinking. Most things never become popular. If you pursue creative thinking endeavors, you must be willing to do it for its own sake. In all likelihood, it will help you discover something about the nature of the universe and yourself but not make you famous. If you think writing is about grammar, spelling, and structure, you are clearly stuck in the first type of writing drilled into you from a young age. The second type of writing is much more than this and extends well beyond the rules made up by a few individuals before you were born. Ultimately, being a good type 1 writer means you can regurgitate someone else's work. Eventually, AI will be better at it than you. However, being a good type 2 writer means you are a good thinker and, dare I say, a better human. #### Related Items [[Writing]] [[Thinking]] [[The Human Condition]] [[Creative]] [[Progress]] [[Artificial Intelligence]]
