# A Modern American Business Dialogue By:: [[Brian Heath]] 2024-04-09 I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this. It turns out the situation is terminal. I know this is hard to hear, and you might be thinking, "How long do we have?" Let's not focus on that for now; here is a bit of measurement where things seem to be getting better if you hold your head at the right angle. See how that makes everything better? There is reason to hope because the random variables move up four times in a row. Now, let's get back to the terminal diagnosis. Yeah, the odds of survival are one in a million, but remember the quote from *Dumb and Dumber*, "So, you're saying there's a chance!" Technically, yes, there is a chance. I didn't lead with this because of respect for my fellow humans and my desire to be authentic. What's that? You want me to lead with this hope because what's the point of bumming everyone out. I suppose that is a one-way perspective, but the question is whether truth is worth it even if one cannot handle it. Oh, I see now; the game is in motion, and I risk ruining it for everyone if I point out the terminal diagnosis. Perhaps we can make a deal where I keep quiet if you keep paying me until the end and leave me alone. I'll return to my corner and suffer in my wealth and knowledge. #### Related Items [[Work]] [[Suffering]] [[American]] [[Business]] [[Organization]]
